MEETING OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, MR. TRAJKO VELJANOSKI, WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA, MR. IVO JOSIPOVIC

At the beginning of the meeting both speakers agreed that there are no open issues between the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Croatia, and that the bilateral relations on all fields in the last period are in a steady growth. During the meeting, President Veljanoski highlighted that with the accession of Croatia into the European Union, the Republic of Macedonia has another friend in the European family, while also highlighting that euro-Atlantic integration were a permanent commitment of both states. President Veljanoski also added that both states pursued this path together, but because of known reasons the Republic of Macedonia was blocked by our southern neighbor.

During the meeting they spoke on the improvement of parliamentary collaboration, which President Veljanoski highlighted is successful and an important instrument in the building of bilateral relations. At the same time, they also spoke on the current political events in the Republic of Macedonia and Croatia.

During the meeting, the President of Croatia highlighted that as up to now, also in the future, Croatia will fully support the euro-Atlantic integration of the Republic of Macedonia through the transfer of specific experience from the political and technical sphere, all with the aim of a quicker integration into the European Union. He also addressed the situation of the Croatian minority in our nation, and the Macedonian minority in Croatia, highlighting that both states have taken specific steps for maintaining and developing their current status in the states. In relation to the name issue with our Southern neighbor, the Republic of Croatia will support us towards any solution that is acceptable for us.

During the meeting, President Veljanoski and the President of Croatia shared opinions on the economy, defense, transport, agriculture, and tourism in both states, on which they agreed that there should be mutual advancement.
