THE PRESIDENT OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA, HAD A MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE STATE OF ISRAEL, MR. SHIMON PERES
On the last day of the official visit of the State of Israel, the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski had a meeting with the President of the State of Israel, Mr. Shimon Peres. The meeting was in the spirit of promotion of the mutual friendship and cooperation between the two states, during which the experiences for the issues of mutual interest were exchanged and conveyed.
The President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Trajko Veljanoski, once again, expressed appreciation from the warm and hospitable welcoming, underlining that the Republic of Macedonia is a true friend of the State of Israel and considers its vital interests. The Republic of Macedonia as a Member State of NATO and EU will support the State of Israel. Underlining the appreciation from the high level of visits during this year, the President Veljanoski underlined that this demonstrates the intensive development of the relations between the two states.
The President Veljanoski seized the opportunity to inform the President Peres on the efforts and activities undertaken for faster finalization of the Memorial Centre for the Holocaust in Skopje, and conveyed the official invitation from the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Gjorge Ivanov to the President Peres for his visit and attendance on the ceremonial opening of the Memorial Centre in March next year.
The President of the State of Israel, Mr. Shimon Peres, referred to the necessity for development and investment in the science and technology in the next 10 years, which in his opinion will significantly change the world. In this direction, Mr. Peres underlined that there are not small or big states according to their area or number of kilometres, but they are big or small according to the achieved visions, the development of the technology and their participation in the overall world development. Mr. Peres underlined the possibility for mutual cooperation and assistance for the Republic of Macedonia, especially in the area of agriculture and neighbouring areas of this important economic sector.
The President Veljanoski informed Mr. Peres on the activities with are undertaken by the Republic of Macedonia in the area of development of the education, its IT support, technology and promotion of the knowledge as power and engine of the Macedonian society.
Underlining the importance of science and Mr. Peres emphasised that the science is neutral and its usage depends on the man, that unfortunately, even today, there is discrepancy in the development of the technology and steps in the area of humanity. “The technology goes up with an elevator, humanity uses the stairs”.
In the end of the Meeting the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia presents data and photography of the finalization of the construction of the Memorial Centre of the Holocaust in Skopje.
